I took this photo during Spring Break in Florida this year and entered it in "Photography Laureates" photo contest. It was also chosen as a finalist and will be published in their "Photography Anthology" this year. This is part of the email I received from them. "Kyrta Reeve and John Warton, our 2 editors, have reviewed your photograph The Swamps and have selected it for its asymmetric composition and light mix used throughout.Your photograph was selected out of hundreds of competing entries and you will be published along with other talented photographers. "

I received the exact same email, worded exactly the same, for a photo that is completely different from yours. Needless to say, after some research, I found it was mostly a scam. I hope you didn't pay that ridiculous amount for the "book" they were "publishing". Anyone would be better off printing their own collection with all their own photos for MUCH cheaper.
As for your more recent entry for the PF magazine, congratulations! It's a very beautiful photo. I also entered thirteen different photos in both the color and black/white categories. I'm hoping to receive a notice any day now for at least one of them.
